Hello, my darlings!
My name is Kristen, and I am a self-proclaimed phantom. This means, as incredible as some people may think it, I try very hard to be an objective observer, storing everything I see and hear up for later use. I really prefer to be in the background, but because of this (and my wonderfully insane friends), I've seen and heard a lot in my 17 years on earth. And I've got an opinion on just about all of it.
Humanity itself drives me insane. I just don't understand how, if we are all born with brains, we are incapable of using them. It seems like every day on the news, without fail, there is a story about some guy getting himself or other people maimed or even killed, because he was doing something that he wasn't supposed to be doing. Some of it seems silly and harmless, and some of it escalates into an international war. If people would just think before they act, I mean really think about the consequences, these things might not happen. Whole wars could be avoided by a simple application of common sense.
But enough of that. This was supposed to be a lighthearted introduction.
There's not really much you need to know about me, other than I am a high school senior, an aspiring fiction author, and in my own opinion a decent person. I try to do good with everything, but that doesn't mean it always works out. I guess I'm a little hard on myself, but I have a right to demand my best in everything. I try to act as brave and as strong as I can in every situation, no matter how scared I am. And I refuse to let other people tell me how to live. It's my life. If you don't like me, then just stay away. Again, common sense.
My favorite things in the world are stories (in any form, including my own), music, other cultures and languages, animals, chocolate, and people. Yes, even after my above scathing review, I still find humans utterly fascinating. You just never quite know what they'll do next. I also like to travel, and can't wait to be old enough (and have enough of my own money) to see everything the world has to offer. I'm actually going to Europe this summer, can't wait!
As for what I'll post on here, I'm not quite sure. All I know for sure is I will post every Sunday, if I can, and post whatever comes to mind from the past week. I don't truly expect many people to read this, but if you do choose to, I hope you get something out of it. I truly do.
A quick word on comments: In leaving this blog open to the entire Web, I understand that there are people out there who are going to disagree strongly with what I have to say. It's just a fact of life. However, I am leaving the option to comment on my posts up on faith. You are of course entitled to your own opinion, but please be polite about it. If your comment is inappropriate or a complete flame, I will delete it. End of discussion.
That's all for now. I'll leave you with this: The world may seem like a dark and terrible place, but there really is more good in it then bad. The bad just yells louder.
